Homestay Accommodation

Students experience New Zealand family life and culture by living with a kiwi family. They are encouraged to interact with their homestay hosts daily and enable them to make fast progress in their conversational English and develop lasting friendships.

New Zealand Care has a wide range of kiwi host families available in Christchurch. Each host family is personally inspected to ensure suitability, safety, facilities and location.

  • A comfortable, fully furnished room
  • A bed, blankets, sheets, duvet and pillow
  • A wardrobe for clothing and storage
  • A scotch chest or set of drawers
  • A study desk and reading lamp
  • 3 meals per day/ laundry / use of phone & internet

New Zealand Care has detailed procedures for the selection and monitoring of homestay host families:

  1. An assessment of the homestay host family’s eligibility to host a particular student.

  2. An examination of the suitability of the host family home, family composition, location & facilities.

  3. A determination of whether a host family will provide a secure physical and emotional environment

  4. New Zealand National Police vetting of all persons aged 18 years or over resident in the household

Guardianship with New Zealand Care

An efficient student care program can help International students to achieve the most during their study time here in New Zealand. Our Guardianship program provides the following services:

Prices and Fees
All fees below already include Goods and Services Tax (GST)

  1. Homestay Placement Fee:   $200.00 (single student 14 years+)
    Homestay Placement Fee:   $250.00 (single student under 14)

  2. Weekly Homestay Fee:   $215 - $235.00 per week.
    (Depending upon location of homestay and age of the student)

  3. Airport Pickup Fee:  $50.00 (single student).

  4. Extension of homestay accommodation period:  $40.00 -$50.00 per day.

  5. Apartment, Rental House or Room Placement Fee:  $200.00 (single student).

Apartments, Rental Houses & Rooms

For those students who are older and more independent, New Zealand Care can help to provide you with non-homestay type accommodation such as an apartment, rental house,or single room. We do the arrangement for you, contacting the owners/landlords, taking you to visit the various options available, assisting with contracts and agreements, and helping you to understand the legalities involved with renting here in New Zealand. Whether a single room, or a group of students joining together to rent an apartment or rental property, New Zealand Care can assist you in finding the type of accommodation that satisfies your requirements.

Study Tours

New Zealand Care arranges & organizes study tours each year for student groups from overseas. The tour plan usually includes time spent learning English in a language academy or New Zealand public school, the interesting experience of joining in an New Zealand classroom, being assigned a personal “buddy” or friend for the day, and the joy of making new friendships with those of a different culture.

Students visit many historical and cultural attractions and get to try their hands at many interesting activities, and through it gain knowledge and skills which are an important part of a well rounded educational experience overseas in a foreign land.
